POWER & CHARGING INSTRUCTIONS
  • The Sunburst® can be charged in any position of the Power Selection Switch [figure 1 #5], however the fastest and best position is the 1-POWER OFF [figure 2 A].
  • See Sleep Mode (See Below) in Care & Maintenance (See Below).

  • By Solar
  • The Sunburst® can be charged in any position of the Power Selection Switch [figure 1 #5], however the fastest and best position is the 1-POWER OFF [figure 2 A].
  • {Radio can be listened to while solar charging. However, it takes longer to fully charge}. To listen while you charge, select the Power Selection Switch [figure 1 #5] to 2-DYNAMO [figure 2 B], instead of 1-POWER OFF [figure 2 A] as stated above.
  • This should be the main power source for your Sunburst®. Try to keep in the most direct sun to get maximum charge. However NEVER put in car window. The sun through a car window is GREATLY MAGNIFIED and is too HOT!!!
  • Charge the Sunburst® by facing the Solar Panel [figure 1 #8] towards the sun or strong incandescent light. A 60 watt light bulb would be about 2,000Lx which takes 60 hours. {Full bright direct sun is the best solar source}.
  • Solar Panel is Always Charging~Outdoors Or Indoors even with just room lights!!!

  • By Hand Crank (Dynamo)
  • Slide Power Selection Switch [figure 1 #5] to position 2•DYNAMO [figure 2 B].
  • Fold Dynamo Crank [figure 1 #6] handle up and snap into full upright position. Start and stop in a smooth moderate speed to prevent damage to the gear box. Wind the crank clockwise. If you crank 3 minutes this will generate enough power to play the radio for about 20 minutes. Sunburst® Dynamo Hand Crank is designed for temporary charging or emergency use whenever the built-in battery is discharged.

  • By “C” Batteries (Only as backup Power as Last Resort).
  • Slide Power Selection Switch [figure 1 #5] to position 3•AUX.BAT. [figure 2C]. Open Battery Housing Cover [figure 1 #12], install 3 “C” batteries into the battery compartment and make sure the polarities are correct{as shown in diagram in battery compartment}. Battery Housing Cover can be opened with coin or flat screwdriver. Replace Battery Housing Cover [figure 1 #12].

  • By AC/DC or Car Charging
  • Use only approved SunStar’s AC/DC or Car Sunburst® adapter (for ordering optional AC/DC or Car adapter contact SunStar® or see your local dealer).
  • {Radio can be listened to while AC/DC or Car charging. However, it takes longer to fully charge}.
  • Slide Power Selection Switch [figure 1 #5] to position 2•DYNAMO [figure 2 B].
  • By AC/DC-Plug AC/DC adapter into the wall,   OR    By Car Adapter - Plug Car Adapter into car.
  • Then connect the other end of adapter to the AC/DC In & Out Jack [figure 1 #11] on the back of the Sunburst®, charge 8-10 Hours. {Be sure to plug into the jack toward the end which is marked DC In 6V. Plugging into the top earphone jack may cause permanent damage to the Sunburst®.} Do not charge more than 12 hours.
  • USE AT YOUR OWN RISK-SunStar® & its’ dealers can’t be held responsible for any loss or damage due uses of these products.

  • CARE AND MAINTENANCE
  • Never use solvents containing benzol or petroleum for cleaning the Sunburst®. Wipe off dust and stains with a soft damp cloth.
  • Take out the back up batteries if the Sunburst® is not used for a long time.
  • Exposure to temperature over170oF (80oC) may damage the plastic case. {Never put Sunburst® in car window, As explained in By Solar (See Above).
  • To change bulb in flashlight, unscrew open Flashlight Lens [figure 1 #1]. Replace bulb then replace lens. Spare Bulb stores under the Battery Housing Cover [figure 1 #12].

  • Sleep Mode
  • If sound, flashlight becomes weak or dim, this is an indication that the built-in batteries are discharged and must be recharged before further use. Further use could cause the Sunburst® to go into a sleep mode.
  • To bring Sunburst® out of a sleep mode it will take 3-4 times longer to recharge & must be charged with AC or Car Adapter {or sometimes Dynamo will also work}. Use only approved SunStar’s Sunburst® AC/DC or Car adapters (for ordering optional AC/DC or Car adapters contact SunStar® or see your local dealer).
